Hearing Aid Troubleshooting

If the hearing aid is weak or dead:

  1. Replace the battery (if it uses a battery).

  2. Charge your hearing aids (if it uses a charger). Make sure your charger is plugged into the wall and has power.

  3. Replace waxguard at tip of your hearing aid.

  4. If you have a dome on the end of your hearing aid, replace it.

If the hearing aid is whistling (feedback):

  1. Make sure your hearing aid is inserted fully into your ear.

  2. If you’re seeing your doctor or audiologist soon, ask them to check for and remove wax in your ear.

If the hearing aid is wet:

  1. If you have tubing on your hearing aid and you can see water droplets inside, use a blower to clear it.

  2. Put the hearing aid into a drying jar (if you have one). If not, put the hearing aid in a bowl of rice (close the battery door) overnight.

  3. DO NOT dry off your hearing aid with a hair dryer or in the oven.

If the hearing aid is hurting your ear or slipping out of your ear:

  1. Schedule an appointment with us to adjust the fit.
